A Music Collective in Acton
Steve Harrison and Friends has existed, in some form or another, for over two decades. From humble beginnings – just me, Steve, with a pen and a few ideas for what might make a great song, all the way up to a full-sized music collective in Acton, we’ve been recording together for a while now, to produce something we can be proud of and that, hopefully, you’ll love to hear! We’re creating new Folk music in Acton, with influences from the worlds of Jazz, Latin and Indie. Hopefully it strikes a chord with you!
When I was a teacher, I spent time in Devon, London and several years in Germany, writing songs and music in my spare moments, throughout my time in the classroom. For a long time, it never went further than that. I’d played several instruments and put some songs together, eventually recording my first album, People’s Park (1996) at Shepherd’s Bush Studios, under the moniker of the “Steve Harrison Band”. I then spent time abroad and it wasn’t until I came back and made my home in Acton that I started to kick things up a notch. Village Green (2018) was my first album in over a decade, beginning this music collective in Acton, and it wouldn’t have happened without encouragement and help from the friends who joined me on this journey.
Hi there, leader of the pack here! I’ve been a song-writer and musician for a long time, with influences stretching across the Jazz, Indie and Folk worlds, touching base with everything in between as I go. When I moved to Acton, I was lucky enough to see live jazz in the George and Dragon. It was here that I met Dave Brammer, Jon and Dave Plotel and Godfrey Wang, who would prove to be the first of many firm friends to join our music collective in Acton.
