Songs that Tell Stories
Have a listen to our latest album, Iron Age Eyes. It’s our best-produced album to date, incorporating new instruments and new sounds into a variety of songs that tell stories. We’re really proud of it!
Recorded under the name of Steve Harrison Band, this album represents Steve’s first foray into recorded music. The album, lyrically, is inspired by a trip to Hungary and acts as a launchpad for what Steve Harrison and Friends would eventually become.
Our first album recorded at Slipway Studio, Village Green represents an exploration both of classic, rural village life and the feudalism of the past that preceded and informed that way of life. It is historically-influenced and is the album where Steve Harrison and Friends came to life on record!
This album is concerned with home and with the typical day-to-day life one lives in London. It is so named for the postcode where Steve lives and the songs explore life through his eyes. While not overtly autobiographical, a bit of biography certainly sneaks through here and there!
This album was an opportunity for us to really expand our musical repertoire and experiment a bit more with songs that tell stories. We experimented with new harmonies, styles and instruments, with Lexie joining our group and taking over lead vocal duties for this album as a whole.
This album saw a few more new members join our collective, bringing new styles and inspirations. This album really saw us embrace the mixture of Folk, Latin and Jazz, combining those disparate styles together in a way that we love!
Inspired by Steve’s time spent in Germany, this album deals with East Germany before the breaking down of the Berlin Wall and is influenced by the small acts of resistance that an every-day person might have carried out in opposition to an oppressive Communist regime.
